Not all oats are created equal!
Oats can be a highly beneficial food to add to our kids diet but not all oats are the same quality.
Try to choose certified organic oats grown in Australia, non-GMO and that have no added preservatives. We want our oats to be seasonally harvested, lightly steamed to ‘stabilise’ them and then simply rolled in a press. Sometimes oats are so processed that there is little nutritional value. How our oats are grown are hugely important. Oats can often contain glyphosate which is an herbicide that has been linked to cancer. Buying organic oats can help decrease the exposure to this herbicide so it’s absolutely worth investing in some good quality oats as the base for your pimped up porridge.
