Nourish Me Happy Toddler Smoothie

Yields: 1 Serving

We love smoothies in our house! I have been feeding my twins green smoothies since they first started solids and it's one of the best habits you can get your kids into. Smoothies can be as simple or as complex as you like and you can add almost anything! They are awesome for breakfast or morning snack and sometimes we even have them for dinner!

Here is one of my favourites that are a sure fire hit with toddlers.

Ingredients

  •  1 large very ripe banana (your want it to have black spots as it makes it sweeter!) Buy them on sale from organic shop when they are over ripe, peel them, chop them up and put them in your freezer.
  •  1 large handful (around half a cup) of organic frozen blueberries. Remember blueberries are heavily sprayed with a variety of pesticides so buying organic is very important as you don't want to be feeding your kids those awful chemicals. Woolies sells big bags of frozen organic blueberries for around $8 sometimes even on sale so I stock up and always have them on hand) This is what they look like!
  •  Large handful of organic baby spinach
  •  1 cup of organic raw coconut water
  •  a sprinkle of organic sunflower seeds  (The non organic ones from Coles and Woolies are sourced from China and are extremely toxic and contain over 10 different sprays. Some supermarkets sell organic but  safer to buy Australian made with seeds from an organic shop or market)
  •  1 teaspoon of organic raw honey or some chopped up pineapple (if needed)
